What Size should my Sauna be? What should the length of my sauna be? What should the ceiling height of my sauna be?

The important thing to keep in mind is the length of the bench or seating area in your sauna. If you want to be able to lay down, then you need to take that into account. If you want to lay down, then you will need one wall to be at least 6 feet long. Longer if you have taller people in your family. Another thing to keep in mind for your sauna size is the door. The door must open outwards from the sauna and cannot have any latch that requires turning or locking to exit/enter the sauna. This is building code so that the sauna is safe.

Optimum Ceiling Height for Sauna

A ceiling height of 6 1/2 to 7 ft is used in a sauna. If the ceiling is higher than 7 feet where you wish to install your sauna, then it needs to be lowered otherwise you may have trouble with heater operation.

Ensure no metal surfaces in sauna room

If you sit on metal while in the sauna, it is going to burn your skin and be very uncomfortable. As such, you'll want to ensure no metal is protruding or bare in your sauna construction. This includes metal screws, metal bars etc. Sitting on anything that is metal and hot will be an unpleasant sauna experience and may mean that your friends or family will not want to come back and use it again.
